Some work has been done under command line applications and ffmpeg
OBS Studio
Get the PPA right away to have the latest version.
Make sure that v4l2 lookback utils is installed.
Make your scene.
Start Virtual Camera
Start your streaming/calling application.
Select the virtual camera.
Kdenlive
This is the premier KDE video editor.
The project stalled for a few years but now(June 2022) it is going well.
The change to version 24 breaks backward compatibility.
subtitles are much more well done.
