Why Kubuntu
When the MSG started(2007) we were running off of a few XP or XP Pro laptops. We were smart enough to avoid the plague called Vista.
We had a friend setup a linux file server which I must admit I never understood.
After that a friend Ray Fried from Washington State set us up to use a LAMP server and configured all of our computers to be Kubuntu dual Boot systems. He recommended Kubuntu because
- He was familiar with it
- It was very configurable
- It was an easier change from Windows than Ubuntu
In the end it has been a good decision. We may go back to Ubuntu( in 20.04 ) for the following reasons.
- It is the most widely used and therefore the most widely documented free OS
- It is running Gnome and dumped Unity(Hallelujah)
- I like KDE but am aching for more pain(change) in my life
